Can I participate in the study?

In order to to participate in this study, certain eligibility criteria have to be met

  • You have to be at least 18 years old,

  • You speak either English or Dutch, and

  • you have officially been diagnosed with gender dysphoria

It does not matter what stage of transition you are in or what your preference is in terms of treatment.

How much time will it take?

The duration of the participation efforts varies based on your preference for the participation methods; an interview will take about 1 hour, a questionnaire will take up to 10 minutes.

When will it take place?

Interviews will take place starting in June 2022. Further details will follow once you have contacted us. We are happy to take your schedule into consideration!

Does participation in this study affect medical decisions or waiting times?

No. The researchers have no influence on medical decisions or waiting times within the gender care trajectory. Participation therefore does not delay, or speed up, your care process.

Will I be compensated for my participation?

Yes, in case you decide to take part in the interview, as a thank you for your contribution you will receive a gift voucher.

Who will see my personal data from the study?

All data collected in this study is confidential. This means that the data will only be seen by the researchers involved. The data from this study will not be placed in your medical file. The data will be published anonymously in a medical scientific journal, in which you as a participant cannot be traced.

Can I withdraw or stop my participation during the study?

Yes, you can. Participation in the study is without obligation. This means that you can change your mind and withdraw from the study at any time. It is important to let the researchers know that you no longer wish to participate, but you do not have to give a reason for doing so.
